Leeds United have agreed a deal in principle to sign Japan international Ao Tanaka.
The Fortuna Dusseldorf midfielder is due to travel today (August 29) to undergo a medical ahead of completing his transfer to Elland Road after a transfer fee was agreed in the region of €3.5million (£2.95m; $3.88m) plus bonuses.
The 25-year-old has played for the 2. Bundesliga side across the past three seasons, scoring 10 goals in 86 first-team appearances.
Tanaka, who has scored eight goals across 26 international caps for Japan, previously spent four years at J-League side Kawasaki Frontale.
Tanaka is set to become the seventh arrival of the summer transfer window at Elland Road following the signings of Joe Rodon, Largie Ramazani, Jayden Bogle and Alex Cairns, while Manor Solomon and Joe Rothwell have joined on loan deals from Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth respectively.
Daniel Farke’s side, who lost last season’s promotion play-off final, have picked up five points from their opening three Championship matches this season.
