Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich played a key role in the team’s 2-0 victory over SC Freiburg.
The veteran thinks Sunday’s effort was a “deserved” victory for the Bavarians.
“The first half today and in Wolfsburg we controlled the games very well. The second half today was less ‘wild’. We didn’t concede any chances in both halves today. We absolutely deserved to win both games,” Kimmich said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Kimmich also said that his fluid position as a hybrid central midfielder/right-back was part of head coach Vincent Kompany’s game plan for SC Freiburg.
“It was very specific to the opponent. I didn’t play as a classic right-back, because Vincenzo Grifo plays in a free position so we didn’t need one and I had a free position as well. As I said it’s specific to today’s opponent. I see it as a strength to be able to play in two positions [right-back and midfield]. We solved it very well as a team today.”
