After starring for France at the 2024 Summer Olympics, Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise is moving on up — to the senior men’s national team.
The 22-year-old received a call-up for France’s upcoming Nations League games in the September international period after earning starts in each of Bayern’s first two Bundesliga games this season under Vincent Kompany.
“I’m very happy to be here. It’s my first time with the A team,” Olise said from the French camp this week (as captured via @iMiaSanMia). “It’s a pleasure and I hope it’s the start of something special. It’s my dream since I was young.”
France coach Didier Deschamps evidently likes what he has seen from Olise already at Bayern — and during the summer with the Olympics squad, where Olise helped lead the French to the Final, where they lost a 5-3 extra time thriller to Spain.
France opens up UEFA Nations League play with matches on Friday vs. Italy and Monday vs. Belgium.
