No one might have been more thrilled to report to training camp for the German national team than Bayern Munich midfielder Aleksandar Pavlović.
“I’m really happy because I wasn’t here for long in June. But I still remember the time back then [before the EUROs] as being very nice. I remember the great atmosphere in the team, the good training and also my debut for Germany against Ukraine. That’s why I’m really excited and want to give it my all,” Pavlović told Ransport (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Pavlović was very disappointed to have missed the EUROs due to a bout with tonsillitis, but did not let the situation weigh too heavily on him.
“At first it was obviously a huge pain to have to miss the EUROs in my country as a young player. But I quickly started to look forward positively again. If the coach continues to rely on me and I perform to my potential, I will hopefully be able to play in a few more tournaments,” Pavlović said. “I’m feeling great again. I got through the tonsil operation very well and was able to get back into full training when FC Bayern’s preseason began.”
It remains to be seen what kind of role Pavlović has with Germany moving forward, but we should get sneak peek of it over the next few days against Hungary and the Netherlands.
