Liverpool are planning to open talks with Mohamed Salah over a new contract in the near future, talkSPORT understands.
Salah dropped a bombshell after scoring in Sunday’s 3-0 victory over Manchester United by claiming it could be his last appearance at Old Trafford in a Liverpool shirt.
But the Anfield hierarchy are relaxed about Salah’s situation with talks scheduled to take place with their Egyptian superstar’s advisers imminently.
It is also understood Salah is settled on Merseyside and keen to stay beyond the end of this season when his current deal expires.
This is despite the looming possibility of a big-money move to Saudi Arabia.

Salah got tongues wagging during his post-match interview following the 3-0 win over Manchester United at the weekend – a game in which he scored one and provided two assists.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, he said: “I had a good summer and had a long time to myself to try to stay positive because as you know, it’s my last year at the club.
“I just want to enjoy it and I don’t want to think about it. I feel like I’m free to play football and then we’ll see what happens next year.
“I was coming to the game today thinking it could be the last time.
“Nobody at the club has spoken to me yet about a new contract so I just play this last season and then see at the end of the season.
“It’s not up to me but nobody talk to me about a contract with the club. We’ll see.”
Liverpool legend Graeme Souness discussed Salah’s future in the aftermath of Salah’s interview, suggesting that he may have already decided to leave.
Joining Jim White and Simon Jordan on talkSPORT, he said: “Me, I actually think he’s made his mind up. I think he’s got something lined up.”
He went on: “Yeah, looking at it, I think that came out not the way he wanted it, because I think he tried to recover from it further in the interview on Sky yesterday.”
Salah is regarded as a modern-day Liverpool legend, having netted 214 goals and 92 assists in 352 games
This includes three goals and three assists in just three matches so far this term.
