Manchester City and Arsenal are keeping close tabs on Alphonso Davies’ situation at Bayern Munich, according to HITC Football.
The website claims the two Premier League teams are “huge admirers” of the 23-year-old, whose contract expires at the end of the season.
Davies is not expected to stay at Bayern and it is believed he is likely to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club in January.
However, neither City nor the Gunners are thought to be the favourites for the Canadian international’s services.
Davies is set to move to Spain
HITC report that both the Premier League champions and Arsenal believe the left-back will join Real Madrid on a free transfer.
The Spanish giants have been courting Davies (who won the Champions League with Bayern in 2020) for several months and, barring a last-minute twist, it looks like he will plying his trade at the Bernabeu next season.
City have not completely given up hope, and there is a possibility that they may try their luck if negotiations with Real don’t go as smoothly as anticipated but, for now, fans shouldn’t expect the player to make the switch to Manchester.
City could sign another player from Bayern Munich
Davies is not the only member of the Bundesliga side’s squad that the Cityzens have taken a keen interest in. Joshua Kimmich is known to be on the club’s list of targets, and the German’s contract also expires next year.
The midfielder is expected to hold talks over a potential extension at Bayern but if those discussions don’t bear fruit, City will have the chance of offering him a contract within the next four months.
Kimmich played for Pep Guardiola in his final season as Bayern head coach in 2015/16 so there is already a previous connection there.
