Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala and Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz were spectacular during the German national team’s 5-0 throttling of Hungary.
Head coach Julian Nagelsmann had a front row seat to the action and was thoroughly impressed.
“Jamal has already undergone a great transformation in the past year in terms of his presence in the box, he’s become exceptionally good at that. Before the Euros, it was a small point of criticism about this exceptional player that he doesn’t get into the box enough. During the tournament it was very good, today it was phenomenal,” Nagelsmann said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Nagelsmann also told Sky Sport journalist Kerry Hau (as captured by @iMiaSanMia) that both Musiala and Wirtz have something special about them.
“Both have the potential to win the Ballon d’Or,” said Nagelsmann.
Finally, the coach wanted to throw some credit over to Arsenal FC’s Kai Havertz as well.
“Kai has made a big leap forward in the past two years. He has the potential to be world class in many positions. He runs a lot and has become very clever,” Nagelsmann said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “Sometimes he’s a bit unlucky when it comes to finishing. The vice captaincy is good for him. He’s a smart person, very reflective, very modest. I hope he continues to believe in himself.”
