Bayern Munich will table a “big proposal” to prevent Manchester City target Jamal Musiala from leaving the Allianz Arena, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Writing in his Daily Briefing column, Romano said that Bayern are “pushing” to keep the German international who is also the subject of interest from other “top European clubs”:
“We continue to see stories about Jamal Musiala, which is normal given his superb performances and his current contract situation at Bayern Munich, with his deal due to expire in 2026.”
“Bayern have been pushing for months to extend Musiala’s contract and this remain one of their main missions. Bayern will insist again with a big proposal; he’s in the list of all the top European clubs, this is very normal, but it all depends on what happens with Bayern in talks.”
Who are the other teams pursuing Musiala?
It was reported by The Independent back in April that Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona are known to be interested in signing the 21-year-old, along with City. However, it is also claimed that he is “known to favour a move to the Premier League as his next destination”.
The main reason is because Musiala grew up in England, having come through Chelsea’s academy before leaving for Bayern at the age of 16. It means City and Liverpool would be the two favourites for his signature.
City have the finances to pull off such a move
While Musiala could potentially have just a year left on his contract at the end of the season, Bayern would still demand a significant fee for his services. Even so, it appears the Cityzens won’t have any issues matching their demands. Reports in the English press at the weekend suggested that the club could be prepared to shell up to £300m on new signings next summer.
With the future of playmaker Kevin De Bruyne up in the air, with his current deal set to expire in June, City could well have Musiala in mind as a potential replacement.
