Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero has given his verdict on his favourite Premier League wingers.
Aguero singled out one star who plays for a top club for high praise.
However, he brutally decided not to include a Manchester United duo in his selection.
Aguero played for City between 2011 and 2021. He made 390 appearances and is the club’s all-time top scorer with 260 goals.
He won the Premier League five times with City and then had a short spell at Barcelona before retiring in December 2021 due to heart problems.
Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero named his favourite current Premier League wingers
Aguero believes that Liverpool stars Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah are the standout wingn pairing in the Premier League at present.
However, Aguero suggested that it is difficult to compare them to Manchester City duo Savinho and Jeremy Doku, who don’t possess as much Premier League experience.
As reported by Bola VIP, Aguero said: ‘Diaz and Salah have more tenure in the PL, and more time together than Savinho and Doku. That makes it harder to compare.
‘However, either of them are the best pair in modern times. Salah and Diaz are a scoring combination, they can assist well, and they are very in-sync with their teammates. Doku and Savinho need time, but their potential is through the roof.’
Aguero was full of praise for Luis Diaz, who has started the season impressively for Liverpool
According to Aguero, Diaz and Mohamed Salah are the Premier League’s top wing pairing
Aguero didn’t even mention Manchester United duo Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford
Aguero spoke glowingly of Diaz, saying that the winger’s experience with Liverpool has helped to take Colombia to another level.
Diaz has scored three goals in as many games for Liverpool at the start of the Premier League season.
Aguero said: ‘Luis Diaz had proven his calibre time and time again. In any case, I think Colombia grew because of Luis’ own experience in Europe.
‘It took their whole team to another level. He’s not the only player who did – [Daniel] Munoz playing for Palace is also of note. This type of background makes a national team better-rounded.’
Manchester United duo Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford, meanwhile, weren’t even discussed by Aguero.
Garnacho and Rashford have yet to score in the Premier League this season, with Erik ten Hag’s side having taken just three points from their first three games.
