Former Premier League striker Clinton Morrison has said that Manchester City should go out and sign Crystal Palace attacker Eberechi Eze.
Eze was tipped to leave Palace this summer with reports suggesting moves to Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United.
However, no move was made for the 26-year-old leaving him at Selhurst Park for yet another season, however, Morrison believes that it will be his last.
He told 10Bet: “I think it could be his last season in south London, and, if it is, then we will have to enjoy him. I was very surprised that a club didn’t pay Eze’s release clause and take him, but I also think that it’s great business from Palace’s point-of-view to keep him.
“Eze can do things that other players can’t even dream about. I love his style of play – it looks so easy; sometimes it looks like he isn’t trying – that’s what I call street football, and you can tell he grew up playing in the cages.”
Eberechi Eze to Manchester City – a good move?
Manchester City did have reported interest in Eze and the England international was open to a move to the Etihad, but City decided not to pay his £60m release clause.
Clinton Morrison believes that City should go back in for Eze as it would be a good move for both parties: “I think Man City would be the perfect club for Eze, especially if Pep Guardiola stays.” He added, “I think he has room to go to another level, and Pep Guardiola would take him to that next level.
“He could go to any of the top four teams in my eyes. He could go and play for any of them, he’s that much of a good player.”
No clubs made a move for Eze
Many were left surprised when Crystal Palace Chairman Steve Parish confirmed that no move was made for Eze over the summer despite the level of interest in him.
Eze made 27 appearances for Palace last season and scored 11 goals, plus he also impressed at Euro 2024 for England. His performances left no reason to turn him down so why did nobody make a move?
The only explanation could be the hefty £60m price tag that Crystal Palace set on Eze and possibly his demands for consistent game time wherever he moved to.
There seems no reason why City wouldn’t go back in for him in January, especially if they are locked in a title fight with Arsenal and Liverpool.
