Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was overlooked for the August Premier League Manager of the Month award.
Brighton’s Fabian Hurzeler was handed the accolade after the Seagulls’ unbeaten start to the season.
Guardiola has not won the Manager of the Month since December 2021; an extraordinary drought for someone who has won the Premier League title in each of the last four campaigns. Unsurprisingly, fans on X are not impressed:

What more does Pep Guardiola need to do to get this award?

Pep can’t win it. He could win 5-0 away at anfield, 7-0 at the emirates, 4-0 at st james park, and still lose out to the ipswich manager for beating brentford 1-0 at home.

Who else was nominated for the Manager of the Month?
In addition to Hurzeler, Liverpool boss Arne Slot and Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta were the other nominees.
With the Gunners and Brighton having dropped points against each other in their last fixture, you could arguably say that the award should have come down to either Guardiola or Slot, if the vote was purely down to results
City have started the campaign in impressive form
It’s been an excellent start for the reigning champions, beating Chelsea 2-0 on the opening day of the season before beating Ipswich (4-1) and West Ham (3-1) in their two subsequent league fixtures.
Guardiola’s side have racked up 9 goals and conceded just twice in 3 games despite the fact that 2 of those matches were away from home at difficult grounds.
When you take those factors into consideration, you can see why City fans are disappointed that Guardiola missed out.
