Arsenal midfielder Jorginho claims that Erling Haaland’s incredible start to the season does not intimidate the Gunners heading into this weekend’s encounter against Manchester City.
Haaland’s brace versus Brentford means he now has 9 goals in just 4 appearances and Jorginho says they are not going to be phased by the striker’s phenomenal form:
“Erling scoring again, it is starting to make us laugh! We look [at what he is doing] because we look at all the games and we love football.”
“We love the Premier League so we watch all the games to be fair. We watch them as well, which is normal. Again it doesn’t get into our head. We need to focus on us and that is what we are trying to do.”
Haaland doesn’t have the best record against Arsenal
It should be pointed out that the 24-year-old has only scored twice in his six appearances versus Mikel Arteta’s side. By his incredibly high standards, that is a rather poor return.
Considering Haaland has scored 8 times in 4 matches against Wolves, 7 times in 5 games versus West Ham, and 6 times in 7 appearances against rivals Manchester United, there is a noticeable difference in terms of his prolificness.
The Gunners do have an outstanding defence and Haaland will have a job on his hands getting past it on Sunday.
City should be confident of getting a result
The corresponding fixture ended 0-0 last season and, while it would not be the end of the world if it is the same scoreline again this campaign, the Cityzens would be hoping to put down an early marker in the title race.
Having not dropped any points at all since the opening day, Pep Guardiola’s men are in the sort of form to secure the three points at Etihad this weekend.
