Leon Goretzka, once a regular starter for Bayern Munich, has seen pretty much 0 minutes played for the club this season. The club has clearly communicated that he is open to moving somewhere else, but he won’t budge. Now it looks like the 29-year-old midfielder is starting to realize that the club meant it:
During the talks with Max Eberl, Leon Goretzka insisted that he didn’t want to leave Bayern in the summer but that he would reassess his situation in January. If his situation and game time didn’t improve by then, Goretzka would consider a move away from Bayern, with the Premier League being an option. Manchester United were interested in Goretzka in the past, there was loose contact but no concrete negotiations

Once players return from injury, it will be much harder to try and break into the starting XI, let alone the first team. This is nearly similar to what Bastian Schweinsteiger experienced when he moved to—coincidentally—Man United.
