What’s the best way for Manchester City fans to get to the Etihad Stadium on Matchday? In this article, we will provide you with all the answers you need.
Whether you are interested in travelling by car, train, the metro, by bicycle or by foot, this travel guide will aim to help you.
We will talk about the best places to park, the nearest mainline railway/metro stations and bus stops, in addition to other information.
Where is the Etihad Stadium?
The Etihad is located in the East of Manchester at the Etihad Campus. The address of the ground is the Etihad Campus, Ashton New Rd, Manchester, M11 3FF.
How to get to the Etihad
By Car:
If you want to drive into Manchester, three separate car parks are used for ‘park and ride schemes”, which are located near Metro stations.
- Ashton Moss (Ashton line) – this has 183 spaces and 12 disabled spaces. It is 25 minutes away from the Etihad Campus on the Metro.
- Ashton West (Ashton line) – this has 184 spaces and 11 disabled spaces. It is just under 30 minutes away from the Etihad Campus.
- Ladywell (Ashton-Eccles line) – this has 332 spaces and 22 disabled spaces. It is around 40 minutes away from the Etihad Campus.
While parking is free in these car parks, you will have to pay to use the Metro (see more details below). The club also give travel disruption updates for those travelling to the Etihad here.
If you want to park at the stadium itself, there is limited availability with priority given to season ticket holders. You have to pre-book before each match, and the costs are as follows:
- £14 for solo drivers
- £12 for two or more passengers.
Accessibility parking for blue-badge holders costs £7 for solo drivers or £6 for two people or more.
By Metro and Train:
There are two mainline railway stations: Manchester Victoria and Manchester Piccadilly. Both have Metro tram links that go to the Etihad Campus, with travel taking 10 to 15 minutes.
Metro tickets cost £3.50 for adults and less for children, with services running regularly seven days a week. There is a tram, on average, every 6 minutes from Monday to Saturday.
If you wish to remain on the mainline railway, you can take the train from Manchester Piccadilly to Ashburys Rail Station. You will then be left with a 20-minute walk to the Etihad.
Walking from Manchester City Centre to the Etihad Campus itself is 35 minutes.
By Bus:
The club put on an additional 15 buses on Matchday that cover 64 stops across the Greater Manchester area.
Can you cycle to the Etihad?
Manchester has its own 24/7 bike hire scheme. Pedal bikes cost 50p to unlock, with every minute costing just 5p. E-bikes are more expensive. They are double the price, costing £1 to unlock and an additional 10p per minute to ride.
The Etihad Campus has around 300 bike storage spaces, with facilities being located in the West and East Stands. Others are also nearby, situated at Nexen Tyre Bridge, Joe Mercer Way and near Ashton New Road.
