The hysteria surrounding a potential transfer for Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala is starting to grow abroad.
In Germany, most are expecting Musiala to extend his contract with the Bavarians and help lead both club and country into a new era. However, with the possibility open that the youngster could see what other kinds of opportunities are out in the market for him, there is a lot of interest abroad — including from Manchester City and Real Madrid:
Manchester City are firmly in the race to sign Jamal Musiala but Real Madrid are also pushing to bring him in, sources have revealed to TEAMtalk. The LaLiga giants consider the Bayern Munich superstar to be a top target for next summer to strengthen their attack.
Madrid want to sign what sources describe as a ‘top-level alternative to Jude Bellingham.’ They have prioritised a move for Musiala following the injury to Brahim Diaz, which has exposed their lack of quality options in attacking midfield.
Diaz will have to recover quickly for the second half of the season when he returns to action in December as Madrid aim to lift the LaLiga title.
The first months of 2025 will certainly give answers on Diaz and if his performances are not up to scratch, TEAMtalk understands this would open the door to the potential signing of Musiala. The 21-year-old, who was one of the standout performers at Euro 2024, is hugely admired by Ancelotti. He can play as a number 10 or left-winger, so could provide cover in multiple positions at the Bernabeu.
But Madrid’s pursuit of Musiala will not be an easy one, with Man City and three other Premier League giants interested in him.
The other three Premier League teams are expected to be Liverpool FC, Arsenal FC, and Manchester United. If Musiala wants to explore his options, he will have plenty.
Liverpool FC could be ready to make a big offer to Bayer Leverkusen for Florian Wirtz:
Liverpool are ready to pay €120m (£100.5m) to sign 21-year-old Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz.
It seems as if the market — and opportunities — for both Wirtz and Musiala are going to continue to grow. With their recent performances, the Germany internationals could be set to make a lot of money for themselves soon enough.
Bayern Munich are playing some of the best football we have seen in years. The club just got done scoring twenty goals in a single week and allowed ZERO shots (not shots on goal, just shots) against Werder Bremen. Vincent Kompany is proving the doubters wrong, and at the same time providing a damning indictment of the brand of football employed by former coach Thomas Tuchel. However, major challenges loom over the horizon.
In this episode, INNN and Cyler discuss the following:
- A deep dive into the differences between Thomas Tuchel and Vincent Kompany.
- Why Kompany’s players seem to suddenly be “playing better” in the new system.
- The curious case of Joshua Kimmich — how Tuchel gaslit an entire fanbase.
- Why Vincent Kompany’s relegation at Burnley may have set him up for this current level of success.
- Setting a baseline — our expectations for upcoming games against Bayer Leverkusen, Aston Villa, and FC Barcelona.
- Why those three games matter.
- How should Kompany line up his team? Does João Palhinha deserve a chance against Leverkusen?
- INNN is forced to shut up about Thomas Müller (for one episode, don’t get used to it).
- What is the major concern heading into the Leverkusen game? INNN and Cyler disagree.
- What would it mean for Kompany if he fails to beat Leverkusen?
Manchester United really want to sign Michael Olise from Crystal Palace last summer, but Bayern Munich beat them to the punch. Now, after five goals and three assists in six games across all competitions, the Red Devils are really living in regret:
Manchester United’s failure to sign Michael Olise this summer has already haunted the Red Devils. Olise was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford before he joined Bayern Munich in July, but Erik ten Hag’s side were unable to finalise a deal with Crystal Palace and the France international moved to Bavaria instead.
Chelsea were also interested in the 22-year-old, however Olise opted to leave the Premier League in search of a new adventure in Germany. Since his move to the Allianz Arena, Olise’s stock has risen exponentially thanks to a string of sensational performances.
The France international is firmly first-choice at Bayern and is well on his way to establishing himself as one of Europe’s most dangerous and effective wingers. Noni Madueke’s form at Chelsea will have eased the Blues’ blow of missing out on Olise, but Man Utd have received no such respite.
Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho have shared right-wing duties at Old Trafford this season, with €95 million man Antony forced to warm the bench. Amad and Garnacho are both top talents, but Man Utd are currently missing something in the final third and Olise may well have been that player.
The Red Devils are 11th in the Premier League table and despite racking up the second-highest xG tally in the division (9.4), Man Utd have only scored five goals – with just four teams registering less.
Olise is a reliable finisher and he would have also added additional creativity from the right flank. Instead, Man Utd continue to underwhelm in attack and their failure to sign the Frenchman already looks like a major mistake.
Kai Havertz is not having a great season so far for Arsenal and was not good vs. Manchester City on Sunday:
Bayern Munich put a 5-0 beatdown on what had been a solid Werder Bremen side (it remains to be seen how it handles this kind of decimation) on a day where we might have learned a little more about how Vincent Kompany is planning to move forward with this team.
Let’s dive right in and discuss a variety of topic on the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show. This is what we have on tap:
- A look at the starting XI.
- A rundown of the substitutes and scoring.
- Bayern Munich is just obliterating teams right now.
- At one point, Derek Rae asked Stewart Robson to assess the difference between Vincent Kompany’s version of Bayern Munich vs. Thomas Tuchel’s edition. Let’s discuss that.
- What do we make of all of this? Find out!
Harry Kane, Michael Olise, Jamal Musiala, Dayot Upamecano, and Kim Min-jae were all recognized for stellar performances against Werder Bremen:
Chelsea FC has about had it with Mykhailo Mudryk:
Chelsea will give winger Mykhailo Mudryk one final chance to impress in Tuesday’s Carabao Cup clash with League Two outfit Barrow. The winger was available for transfer during the summer and has lost his place under Enzo Maresca.
Bayern Munich has had a busy week — and so have we!
Let’s get right down to it and lay out what we have in store for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show:
- Introducing a new show to our lineup: “Bavarian Podcast Works — LoneStar Locks” — which will focus on sports betting and gambling. If you are not a fan of betting, you can still get some unique insights on games across the Bundesliga and Champions League. The new show debuted early on Thursday, so check it out!
- Chuck details (as much as he can) some stories back when he used to partake in “the action.”
- Dinamo Zagreb sacked its coach after Bayern Munich smashed them…which is completely ludicrous.
- Vincent Kompany is going to do things his way.
- The Thomas Müller situation has become a talking point for fans.
- Can we just get rid of the “Performance Principle” for good?
- A look at Mathys Tel’s situation, how things are going to be tough for him, and why a loan in January would not be surprising.
- A quick update on where I am with my Game of Thrones re-watch.
While this might seem like a deterrent to signing Alphonso Davies, it should probably not be viewed that way. Even with the new deal for Mendy, Real Madrid is expected to make a play for Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies this summer, when the Canadian will be available for free:
⚪️ Ferland Mendy has signed new deal at Real Madrid valid until June 2027, three year contract as planned since August.
“It’s all signed, yes. We’re very happy with Mendy”, Carlo Ancelotti confirms. pic.twitter.com/cgYRCX6gVh
