Much has been made of Bayern Munich’s efforts in the summer transfer window — and ongoing — to reshape its salary structure and regain some financial stability in an era of soaring wages.
But how much has Bayern done, and how far do they need to go? While we are not privy to precise details, German outlet Sport Bild has estimated the current wage bill — including possible bonuses.
No surprise, England captain and striker Harry Kane leads the way, as former hitman Robert Lewandowski once did. The full list below:
Organized into brackets, it looks like this, with asterisks next to the new arrivals this season:

- FW Leroy Sané
- MF Joshua Kimmich
- FW Kingsley Coman
- FW Serge Gnabry
Second-tier (€16-17M)

- DEF Kim Min-jae
- MF Leon Goretzka
- DEF Dayot Upamecano
- MF João Palhinha*
Third-tier (€7-13M)
- FW Michael Olise*
- DEF Alphonso Davies
- FW Jamal Musiala
- MF Konrad Laimer
- DEF Josip Stanišić
- DEF Raphaël Guerreiro
- DEF Eric Dier

This summer’s efforts saw defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui leave, along with Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting — likely one second-tier and two third-tier slots in the bracketing above. Olise, Palhinha, and Itō have come in — so Bayern is applying some downward pressure on the wage structure with its signings. Several more high earners are likely on their way out, either soon via transfer (Goretzka, Coman) or in the coming years via retirements (Neuer, Müller).
The club is also reportedly doing this in its contract work as it seeks to renew the likes of Leroy Sané and young stars like Jamal Musiala. That part, though, is not necessarily going so well…
