So far this season for Bayern Munich, Jamal Musiala has picked up right where he left off last season, and more recently, from his excursions with the German national team at the European Championships. So far this season he has tallied three goals and three assists from a total of six appearances across all competitions and is exhibiting his usual mastery in his innate, incredible ability to make something out of nothing in tight spaces with the ball at his feet. There has been scintillating linkup play in attack for the Rekordmeister thus far between Musiala, Michael Olise, Harry Kane, Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman, Thomas Müller, and Leroy Sané.
Away from his influential performances on the pitch, there is still a larger elephant in the room looming in the background for Musiala. His current contract with Bayern is set to run through June 2026, which means that next year, he would be close to entering the final year of his contract with the club. Thankfully, reports have suggested that negotiations over a new contract between the player and the club’s front office have already started, and all signals seem to suggest a new deal will be agreed upon at some point during this season.
Additionally, per information from Sport Bild (as per @iMiaSanMia), Musiala is said to be very comfortable working under new manager Vincent Kompany at the club. That positive working relationship with the Belgian can, and will, be a key factor in the negotiation process with Musiala and tying his future down to Bayern. He has already had to adjust to the managerial styles of Hansi Flick, Julian Nagelsmann, Thomas Tuchel, and now Kompany.
The Sport Bild information also reports that Kompany and Musiala have been extensively working with one another through video analysis, with a focus on sequences where he can be more efficient with his runs into the opposition penalty area. Kompany is working on finding ways where Musiala to get into more dangerous areas on a more consistent basis, which is especially reassuring due to the frequency with which that already occurs for Bayern.
