It’s the big sale of the summer for Paris Saint-Germain this summer. In the very last hours of the transfer window, the capital club reached an agreement with Manchester United for the transfer of Manuel Ugarte.
The Uruguayan midfielder was recruited for the sum of 50 million euros plus 10 million in bonuses. The former number 4 of the Rouge et Bleu spent only one season in the French capital.
The Uruguayan international now wants to relaunch within the team led by Erik ten Hag. However, his beginnings are delicate both on a collective and individual level.
The 23-year-old, who is struggling to gain his place in Erik ten Hag’s starting 11, is receiving criticism from the English press (4 matches played in all competitions including 2 as a starter).
“ He struggled to distinguish himself during his second tenure. He remained on the field for the duration of the match, but struggled to make a noticeable impact all evening.”wrote the Manchester Evening News this Wednesday after their Europa League meeting against Twente (draw with a score of 1-1).
Before continuing this Friday after Manuel Ugarte’s confession about his performance: “ Manchester United face the alarming reality of Manuel Ugarte after honest admission. Manuel Ugarte made his second start for Manchester United on Wednesday night, but he produced a disappointing performance. There are things to appreciate about a 23-year-old taking responsibility for his failed performance, considering how many United players could have been accused of not doing so on Wednesday night. »
The Uruguayan will have the opportunity to rectify the situation this Sunday evening at Old Trafford during the match against Tottenham as part of the 6th day of the Premier League.
