Bayern Munich played a fantastic match against Bayer Leverkusen, but struggled to find opportunities in front of the goal. The best chance occurred in the 48th minute when Serge Gnabry one-timed a cross but was cruelly denied by the far post. The ball bounced directly to Gnabry who slammed the subsequent shot off the crossbar.
In his postgame interview (via @iMiaSanMia), Gnabry said, “It’s a pity that neither of my two shots went in. We played against a top team today and we can be satisfied with our game, we had it largely under control. It was great that we came back after being 0-1 down. It’s a pity that it wasn’t enough to win in the end.”
Despite the unlucky misses that would’ve completely changed the trajectory of the match, the positivity in Gnabry’s response is fantastic to see. Vincent Kompany has reinvigorated the culture at Bayern and will pay dividends in the long run.
