Who’s got two thumbs, is a bad Tottenham blog manager, and forgot Spurs Women were playing away in the League Cup today? This guy, and I’m sorry about that. But it’s never too late to get a match thread up.
This is a domestic cup competition and one of the rare times that Spurs Women will play two games in a week this season. But there’s good news — while most of the domestic cups are streamed on the FA Player, this match was tipped for YouTube, so it’ll be easier for most (non-Canadian, apparently) people to watch.
Charlton are a Championship side, and you’ll probably recognize their manager — it’s Karen Hills, the long-time Spurs manager who guided them from the third division all the way to the WSL. After being let go by Spurs, she landed at Charlton and has done a decent job with them. There’s also a few familiar names on the Charlton squad, including former Tottenham Women players Gracie Pearse and Ellie Brazil who both left the club this summer. So there’s likely some extra motivation today to get one over on their old club.
Spurs are going to rotate with an important match coming up this weekend against Liverpool — American keeper Katelin Talbert gets her club debut today, and it’s a start for academy product Lena Gunning-Williams, as well as Anna Csiki. Bethany England gets the armband and the start up top as well.
