Considering just how much of Bayern Munich’s current youth system relies on loans to develop players, it is remarkable that the club did not have a loan manager to organize them all and keep in touch until last year. When sporting director Christoph Freund was appointed, installing Richard Kitzbichler as loan manager was one of the very first things he did. Among other players, the Austrian kept in touch with Paul Wanner during his stint in the 2. Bundesliga at SV Elversberg. Now, he is joined by Eberl and Freund in giving Wanner attention as the 18-year-old makes waves in the Bundesliga with Heidenheim.
Speaking to the official English Bundesliga website, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, Wanner confirmed this contact and said the following: “Richard Kitzbichler, Christoph Freund and Max Eberl are important and I speak to them a lot. All of them give me a good feeling and also tell me what I can improve and what I must improve, while also telling me what I already do well. They’re helping me on my journey.”
There is actually a short video on the official Bayern website that captures the work of Kitzbichler, with Wanner making a brief cameo while checking in with his fellow Austrian for a brief (and honestly kind of awkward) video call. It may or may not require an FCBayernTV subscription, though.
