Bayern Munich loanees had another action-packed week. Some of them were in cup competitions during the week and some were playing in European competitions, while everyone had a league game over the weekend. League tables throughout Europe are starting to take form. See how the week went for everyone!
FC Bayern Munich
There are nine players on loan from the first team.
Germany – Bundesliga
There are five players on loan in the German Bundesliga: Alexander Nübel, Franz Krätzig, Paul Wanner, Armando Sieb and Gabriel Vidovic.
Alexander Nübel – VfB Stuttgart
Nübel started for Stuttgart in Stuttgart’s home Champions League match against Sparta Prague. He allowed just one goal — an equalizer in the 32nd minute — and recorded two saves, keeping a clean sheet in the second half. Unfortunately Stuttgart was unable to find a winner and they settled for just a point.
Stuttgart was at home in league play this week as well. Nübel conceded just one goal, this time giving Hoffenheim the lead right before halftime. Nübel kept them out of the net the rest of the match, but they could not find a way to win. It took until the ninth minute of stoppage time to find an equalizer and salvage the point at home.
Franz Krätzig – VfB Stuttgart
Krätzig was on the bench for the Champions League match, but did not make it onto the pitch. He was not even on the bench for the Bundesliga match.
Stuttgart will face Bayern on Saturday, October 19 — after the international break.
Paul Wanner – 1.FC Heidenheim
Wanner was on the bench to start Heidenheim’s historical first Conference League match. He came into the match in the 62nd minute with his team up 1-0 after a sixth minute goal. In the 77th minute, Olimipija Ljubjana equalized. Just minutes later Heidenheim earned a penalty and Wanner was called upon. He missed the penalty, but the rebound bounced back to him and he was able to put the next shot into the top netting of the goal. He also received a yellow for celebrating the winning goal!
Heidenheim followed up this exciting European Thursday with a lackluster Bundesliga Sunday against Leipzig. Wanner started this match, but could not really do much to keep the magic going from the midweek. After four total shots on Thursday, he was not able to record a single shot Sunday. He only created one chance for his teammates to shoot and completed 81% of his passes. He was taken off in the 83rd minute, down 1-0, which ended up as the final score.
Heidenheim will travel to face Monchengladbach on the Saturday after the break.
Armando Sieb – 1. FSV Mainz 05
Sieb started for Mainz against St Pauli in Hamburg and played 65 minutes. Up 1-0 already from an early goal, Sieb unleashed a shot from the edge for the box — his only shot of the match — which hit the back of the net and doubled the lead. Four minutes later he received a yellow card for a bad foul. Other than his goal, Sieb did not put up any stellar numbers, but the game did not demand it. Mainz added on more goal and coasted to an easy 3-0 road win.
