Bayern Munich took its share of hits in 2023/24. But as its experienced core of veterans know, things can change on a dime for any squad.
In the case of the German Rekordmeister, having a roster full of German national team stars serves as good a reminder as any. It was not long ago that Die Mannschaft was adrift at sea — but Julian Nagelsmann pulled the squad together in a hurry last Spring, and Germany had a strong performance at EURO 2024.
Now Bayern can hope for the same kind of reset this season under head coach Vincent Kompany.
“Things move very, very quickly in football,” star midfielder and team leader Joshua Kimmich reflected on BR24 (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “That’s not just the case at FC Bayern, but in general. We felt that the atmosphere in the national team wasn’t great before the EUROS. It got better, and by the time of the tournament it was great. We were able to take this momentum with us and we were able to ignite a new spark at Bayern. We want to take that with us as well.”
Bayern is off to a good start this season.
