A coaching titan the stature of Jürgen Klopp inevitably brings speculation with him when he becomes available on the job market.
Klopp, 57, stepped down from his Liverpool FC post after 2023/24. And though he looks set to take a hiatus from the grind of coaching, that has not stopped his name from being floated for high-profile jobs even when there is no vacancy — namely, the German men’s national team coach position currently occupied by former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann.
Nagelsmann is signed on until the 2026 World Cup — but after that?
Klopp dismissed the topic as politely as he could — though he was forced to address the issue after even DFB chief Rudi Völler answered questions about him.
“Everyone is hoping that Julian Nagelsmann will continue for much, much longer than 2026,” Klopp said recently in comments capture via @iMiaSanMia. “Rudi Völler is a very nice guy. He was put in a situation where he had to talk about it.”
If Nagelsmann does step down in 2026, though, who might be in the candidate pool to succeed him?
