The international break gives us all a chance to take stock of the season so far, and as a Chelsea fan you can only be delighted.
A summer where things didn’t seem to always go to plan has been followed by a really strong start to the season which has raised confidence and vibes universally.
Fabrizio Romano has been writing for CaughtOffside exclusively about the transformation under Enzo Maresca:
“It’s been a really strong start to the season for Chelsea and I think Enzo Maresca deserves credit after his arrival this summer in what was not the easiest moment,” Romano wrote.
““I’m told that Maresca is having a very good impact on these players on the tactical point of view, and also the results of that have clearly been good. But most important part is the feeling he created with the players; they’re all very happy with Maresca, how direct and clear he is, also the fans are appreciating that and you can feel a different atmosphere at Stamford Bridge this season.”
He’s not wrong. There’s a much better vibe in the squad, that’s creating better results, and that’s in turn creating a better atmosphere in the stadium. So far, it’s all working out nicely.
“Full credit to Maresca for the job he’s done so far – the start has been excellent but this project is obviously a long term one, so there might still be a few ups and downs, but let’s give him time to continue his impressive work,” Romano concluded.
Enzo’s project prepares for stress test
Phase one is very much complete under the new coach. He’s got his feet under the table, he’s settling in his new players and getting everyone used to his system and style. The results have been good, and morale is strong.
Now the fixtures get far tougher, and we will see if this group can handle a step up to the next level. This next run of games is going to be completely fascinating as the new project gets a proper stress test.
