According to a report from kicker (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich’s potential pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen ace Florian Wirtz might not be such a certainty.
In fact. Wirtz could actually extend his deal with Bayer Leverkusen:
There could be a surprising development around Florian Wirtz. Bayer Leverkusen are looking to extend the player’s contract by another year until 2028 – Wirtz himself also sees this scenario as ‘quite interesting’. A new deal would enable Leverkusen to keep Wirtz next season as well, without significantly worsening their negotiating position in the event of a transfer in summer 2026.
The player’s camp is seriously considering this option as he has ideal conditions in Leverkusen to continue to develop and mature into a leading player. Florian’s father and agent Hans Wirtz is mainly concerned with his son’s development and does not see the quickest possible jump to an absolute top club as the top priority. Leverkusen and Wirtz’s camp are in good contact, there’s no contact with any other clubs at the moment.
There is a lot of time between now and next summer. Wirtz will have to assess what his immediate goals and what club might help him best achieve those milestones.
Surely, Bayern Munich will have a chance to convince the Germany international of what it can offer specifically to him. Wirtz has been linked to Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Manchester City, and Liverpool FC among others.
