Levi Colwill and Noni Madueke are both on international duty with England at the moment, but they managed to do a really fun and in depth two person interview with Chelsea TV before they went.
They really gushed about each other. Colwill was very complimentary about Madueke and his form:
“As a full back, I want my wingers to get at the full back and test them every time,” the defender explained.
“And what’s what [Noni] does.”
Madueke was happy to return the compliment:
“[He’s done] very well, to be honest, playing centre back. Great position for him, even though he’s actually good at left back as well… leading the team as much as possible.”
And their partnership together?
“When we get on the pitch together, it’s electric,” Colwill added. The secret to their success is their friendship off the field too.
“We’re friends, that’s the main thing. Off the pitch we are good mates with each other.

There’s still a long way to go for this team and this partnership, but of all the players in the squad these two must be amongst the happiest with the season so far. It’s not just about their good form, it’s about earning the trust of the new manager right away and making themselves definite first team options.
There’s an immense amount of competition for minutes now, so both Madueke and Colwill (who were at times fringe players in their early days at the club) will be delighted that they’re so firmly embedded in Enzo Maresca’s first team already.
If they and the rest of the squad continue to build relationships on and off the pitch, our future really is bright. There’s been an immense amount of upheaval to get a young squad together – now it’s all about helping them grow together.
