Manchester City have been “offered” Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani, according to TBRFootball.
The website reports that the Frenchman (who played for his country in the 2022 World Cup final) is deemed surplus to requirements by PSG.
Muani is not rated by head coach Luis Enrique, who has started him in only two matches so far this season, despite the fact that the club’s other main striker, Goncalo Ramos, is injured.
It looks like the 25-year-old will be let go if a suitable offer arrives during the next transfer window. He was signed from Eintracht Frankfurt for £70m last year but he is unlikely to go for that much in January.
City are not the only club who have been made aware of his availability
TBR claim that Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Newcastle have also been notified that Muani is on the market.
Out of those teams, Arsenal and Chelsea are probably the most likely to make an approach as both attempted to buy a striker last summer.
Could Muani end up at the Etihad?
Julian Alvarez was sold to Atletico Madrid back in August but the Cityzens opted against signing a replacement for the Argentinian international.
There were reports that the Premier League champions did consider making bids for Celtic’s Kyogo Furuhashi and FC Copenhagen’s Orri Oskarsson but neither deal materialised. The latter has subsequently joined Real Sociedad.
Manager Pep Guardiola could do with a backup option for Erling Haaland, who is taking on a lot of the burden for leading the line.
Whether Muani is the solution that City would go after, though, it is up for debate. There is a feeling that the club would prefer a cheaper alternative who is happy to sit on the bench.
