Enzo Maresca has described Jadon Sancho as a special player and revealed the one thing the winger needs to continue to do.
Sancho arrived from Manchester United on deadline day on an initial loan deal, which will become permanent for around £25m as long as Chelsea don’t finish in the bottom six of the Premier League.
The 24-year-old will be hoping he can restart to his career at Stamford Bridge having endured a difficult spell at Old Trafford, which included a major falling out with Erik ten Hag.
Maresca a big fan of Sancho
Sancho has certainly made a good start to his Chelsea career and has three assists in four games for the Blues, whilst he was named man of match on his debut against Bournemouth.
The winger offers something different on Chelsea’s left hand side and has impressed with his one on one play, but there’s definitely more to come from the Englishman.
Sancho is currently competing with Mykhailo Mudryk for the left wing spot, but it seems he’s already nailed down that position in the team.
In the build-up to Sunday’s game against Liverpool, Maresca has been speaking about Sancho and described him as a special player.
“Jadon is doing well, the only thing he needs to do is to continue in the same way, working hard every day,” he told Chelsea’s website.
“As I’ve said many times, for sure he is going to help us because we really believe he is a special player, but the only way to confirm that is to work hard every day and to never be happy, in terms of always being ambitious, wanting more and more and more.”
Sancho faces the biggest test of his fledgling Chelsea career to date against Liverpool and Maresca has warned his players they can’t rely on Cole Palmer to solve all their problems as they prepare for a tough run of fixtures.
