Tottenham, currently sitting 7th in the Premier League, are undergoing a takeover process, but that hasn’t disrupted their form, as shown by their emphatic 4-1 victory over West Ham. Despite the off-field changes, Spurs remain focused on improving their squad. According to Football Insider, they are actively pursuing some of Europe’s most talented young players.
Senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed on the latest Inside Track podcast that a new transfer strategy has already been implemented to strengthen Ange Postecoglou’s team while building for the future.
Nineteen-year-old Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu is emerging as one of Serie A’s most promising young talents, and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly leading the race to secure his signature, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
Dorgu and Tottenham seem like a match made in heaven
With Destiny Udogie cementing his place as the first-choice left-back under Ange Postecoglou after his move from Udinese, and Ben Davies currently serving as his backup, Tottenham are preparing for changes. Davies’ contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and it seems likely he could depart as a free agent, opening the door for Tottenham to bring in fresh talent like Dorgu to strengthen their defensive options.
Patrick Dorgu, who plays anywhere on the left and is particularly known for his defensive abilities, earns approximately £10,875 per week and has already made 43 appearances for Lecce. Postecoglou’s Tottenham side have identified Dorgu as a serious target and even tried to secure his signature during the summer transfer window.

However, the Lilywhites eventually chose not to finalise the deal, as Lecce were demanding at least £25 million for the young talent, a price Spurs were unwilling to meet at the time. According to a report from Sport Witness, AC Milan and Chelsea have also expressed interest in Dorgu. Both clubs are now in the race to sign him, although Tottenham are reportedly in ‘pole position’ alongside Chelsea to get the deal done.
