This summer, Paris Saint-Germain actively sought various No. 9s to enhance their goal-scoring threat for the 2024-25 season. One player on their radar was Aston Villa standout Jhon Durán.
Earlier this month, Eduardo Burgos of Diario AS reported that Bayern Munich and PSG made offers for Durán last summer.
The Colombian was on the verge of leaving, with Germany being one of his preferred destinations. However, Villa blocked the move, as Unai Emery sees him as a potential future superstar.
Understanding that the young goal scorer is drawing interest from other clubs, the Premier League side agreed to extend Durán’s contract and have the player until 2030. Still, that isn’t stopping other clubs from expressing interest.
Aston Villa’s Jhon Durán remains on the radar of other clubs
Fichajes reports that Arsenal and Barcelona still have Durán on their radar ahead of the upcoming transfer windows in 2025. The outlet notes that Barcelona approached Durán before his renewal and remain a strong contender for his signature.
However, due to financial difficulties, the Catalan club may struggle to meet Aston Villa’s €90 million asking price. Arsenal may gain a slight advantage, especially if they choose to offload Gabriel Jesus next summer, opening up a spot in Mikel Arteta’s attack.
