Bayern Munich youngster Paul Wanner is heading into a decisive period regarding both his club and international futures.
Yet those covering Bayern — and Germany — are starting to read between the lines.
According to a report from Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, the 18-year-old Wanner even “has a clear tendency” towards representing Germany instead of Austria.

Bayern are planning with Paul Wanner. However, the player’s future next summer is still open. It depends on factors such as whether Bayern will go all in for [Bayer Leverkusen star] Florian Wirtz to pair him with Jamal Musiala. Wanner wants to play regular Champions League football next season
Regarding his international future, the clear tendency is towards representing Germany

Music to DFB boss Julian Nagelsmann’s ears surely and nervousness for Austria coach Ralf Rangnick…and for Bayern Munich. The Bavarians have a serious talent on their hands, but a crowded attacking midfield. Will Bayern be able to accommodate its young homegrown talent?
As for Wanner and Germany, it doesn’t hurt that the kid is putting in work with the U-21s and scoring bangers:
