This past summer transfer window, Paris Saint-Germain sought to bolster their midfield. One target that the Ligue 1 side had in mind was Palmeiras’ Richard Rios, who had a stellar 2024 Copa América, helping Colombia reach the final before losing to Argentina.
Antena 2 Deportes reported in August that PSG made a €20 million offer to the Brazilian club for the 24-year-old Colombian. Moreover, Rios was linked to top European clubs like AC Milan and Manchester United this past summer.
Despite PSG’s offer and rumors of a move to Europe, UOL reported in August that the president of Palmeiras has informed the board members that Rios is not for sale despite the capital club’s increased offer of €20 million.
Is PSG revisiting the Richard Rios file?
CalcioMercato.com reports (h/t Fichajes) that Ríos fits into the Ligue 1 winner’s reinforcement strategy. However, the French club has seen their €30 million offer for the player rejected despite his potential to enhance their attacking options.
With a contract running until the end of 2028, the Verdão management will unlikely make it easy for him to leave. Rios joined Palmeiras in 2023 and has made 96 appearances across all competitions for the Brazilian side, scoring six goals and registering five assists.
