Paris Saint-Germain have Achraf Hakimi at the right-back position and a report suggests that the Moroccan international will extend his contract. However, nothing is official in football until pen is put to paper.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported this month that PSG and Hakimi are settling the final details for his contract extension. Moreover, the contract length and salary are nearly agreed upon.
However, could the Parisians decide to pursue another right-back to give Hakimi competition? That would be ideal since there’s nothing behind him, and Nordi Mukiele left this summer, but he never really pushed Hakimi or threatened him for his starting job.
Is PSG prepared to swoop in on a Real Madrid target?
Fichajes reports that PSG are keen on snatching a signing from Real Madrid. The club is also interested in Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose contract runs until the summer of 2025.
Alexander-Arnold has attracted attention from several European clubs, with PSG and Real Madrid reportedly in advanced talks to secure the young Englishman. While Alexander-Arnold primarily plays as a right-back, he also has the versatility to take on a midfield role.
PSG’s management believes he could be a crucial addition to bolster their defense, particularly as they aim to enhance their performance in the UEFA Champions League, which has been subpar this season.
The Parisian club’s advanced negotiations with Arnold could be a concern for Real Madrid, which is eager to expedite his signing in January due to Dani Carvajal’s injury. Meanwhile, PSG is looking to transform their defensive flanks into one of the strongest in the world, partnering Alexander-Arnold with Achraf Hakimi.
Still, this could all be smoke and mirrors from Alexander-Arnold’s camp to ensure they get a suitable contract for the Englishman from Real Madrid or Liverpool.
