Paris Saint-Germain secured a 3-0 win over rival Olympique de Marseille on Sunday night at Stade Vélodrome. However, Ousmane Dembélé is being criticized for his lack of finishing after missing a would-be goal in the match.
The Parisians’ goals came from João Neves, an own goal from Leonardo Balerdi, and a goal from Bradley Barcola was enough for the victory on the road. Nonetheless, the lack of a No. 9 is beginning to show as manager Luis Enrique opts for a false No. 9 rather than playing Randal Kolo Muani.
Daniel Riolo: PSG need a proper striker
PSG could be putting all their eggs in the basket that Gonçalo Ramos will be the solution once he returns from injury. Still, RMC Sport pundit Daniel Riolo cites Barcelona as an example as to what happens when a club has a proper No. 9.
“Dembélé’s miss? It’s the same story every time,” Riolo said (h/t Le10Sport). “If you have a true striker in that spot, maybe he scores. We saw it last night with Barcelona—it’s all about having a proper number 9.”
Robert Lewandowski scored a brace in the second half as Barcelona secured a 4-0 win over Real Madrid this past weekend.
