Three Bayern Munich loanees were in action in European competitions. One started and earned a shutout (spoilers in the article title), one came off the bench in a loss, and one stayed on the bench, but saw his team win. We also saw a lot of action in domestic club play throughout Europe including a first-time goal-scorer in Austria and two assists to Spain. The women called into their national teams were also on fire. We saw an Olimpico goal against the best team in the world and another goal in EURO qualifiers, See what everyone was up to this week:
FC Bayern Munich
There are nine players on loan from the first team.
Germany – Bundesliga
There are five players on loan in the German Bundesliga: Alexander Nübel, Franz Krätzig, Paul Wanner, and Armando Sieb.
Alexander Nübel – VfB Stuttgart
Nübel and Co. bounced back from the Bayern loss last week with two wins this week. First a trip to Italy on Tuesday saw them go toe-to-toe with Juventus. Nübel only needed one save to earn the shutout, but the Stuttgart attack needed a lot of chances to earn the win. A goal ruled out by VAR and a missed penalty all came before a stoppage time winner that brought all three points back to Germany.
Stuttgart hosted Holstein Kiel on Saturday and made it difficult for themselves again. After going up 2-0, they went down a man for the last 30 minutes. Nübel had two saves but conceded a goal in the 84th minute to make it tight going down the stretch. Former Bayern youth and Bavarian Loan Works alum, Jan Fiete Arp, picked up his second yellow card shortly after and the match ended with ten against ten and a 2-1 Stuttgart win.
Franz Krätzig – VfB Stuttgart
Krätzig was on the bench for the Champions League match in Turin, but did not make it onto the pitch. He was not on the matchday squad for the Kiel match.
Stuttgart hosts last season’s finalist, FC Kaisterslautern, in the DFB-Pokal on Tuesday. They then meet last season’s champion, Leverkusen, on Friday in Bundesliga play.
Paul Wanner – 1.FC Heidenheim
Wanner was on the bench for Heidenheim’s 1-0 win in Cyrus against Pafos FC in the Conference League, but interestingly did not make it onto the pitch.
Back home in league play against Hoffenheim, Wanner started on the wing. He had three shots — one blocked and two that went just over the bar. He was credited with both a chance created and a big chance mixed. He was subbed off in the 84th minute, with the score at 0-0. The match ended in a scoreless draw.
Heidenheim will travel to Berlin on Wednesday to face Hertha BSC in the DFB-Pokal. They will also travel further north to face Holstein Kiel in league play on Saturday.
Armando Sieb – 1. FSV Mainz 05
Sieb entered the match in the 20th minute for the injured Mainz captain. He had three shots — one blocked, one shot on goal, and one shot that missed wide. He also had a chance created for his teammates to shoot. He was subbed off in the 87th minute after seeing a goal for each side turn into a home draw.

Bryan Zaragoza – CA Osasuna
Zaragoza started for Osasuna on the road against Real Sociedad. He put on a man of the match performance. He only had one shot, which was on goal, but his greatest contributions came in the five chances created for his teammates to shoot — two of which assisted the match’s only two goals! Zarazoga also picked up a yellow card for a bad foul — all of this was before the 83rd minute. Osasuna went on to win 2-0.
Osasuna will travel to face Chiclana on Wednesday in the Copa Del Ray. They will return to league play on Saturday with a home game against Real Valladolid.

He had only one shot — which was blocked — but completed all but one of his passes. He was unable to help Graz get back into the match and they fell 2-0.
Graz returned to league play with an away trip against LASK. Zvonarek came off the bench — this time in the 61st minute with the match level 1-1. He again only had one shot, but that was all he needed to find his first goal since going on loan and the winner of this match. The 2-1 keeps Sturm Graz at the top of the Austrian Bundesliga.

Benedikt Wimmer – Wupertaler SV
Wimmer started against Monchengladbach II and played the full 90 minutes. He was unable to temper their attack, allowing four goals on the day.

Shortly after she came on, the US scored their third and final goal to win 3-1.
On Sunday, the two teams met up again in Nashville. Vilhjálmsdóttir started this match and played the full 90 minutes. She opened the scoring in the 31st minute with an Olimpico — a looping goal that cleared everyone straight from a corner kick, barely grazing the goalie’s gloves. Her goal stood up until the 72nd minute, when the USWNT equalized and went on to win 3-1.
Vilhjálmsdóttir may look to rejoin Leverkusen for their league match against !.FC Köln on Friday.

She was on the bench Thursday, but did not make it off the bench, even when the starting keeper went down injured briefly. She got the start Sunday and played the full 90 minutes. She kept a clean sheet for 72 minutes — making great saves and intervening at pivotal moments — but the number one team in the world eventually came through in the 72nd minute and equalized. The US added another in the 76th and in the third minute of stoppage time. The scoreline aside, Rúnarsdóttir had a very good game.
Inter will travel to face Fiorentina on Sunday in a return to club competition.
