Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany is wary of Mainz 05 ahead the DFB-Pokal match between the two clubs on Wednesday.
“Mainz are strong in duels and always try to put pressure on the opponent from a compact position. They’re a team that’s always aware, you can see that in every situation. It’s a cup game. It will not be an easy task. We are preparing and looking forward to the game. It’s important to advance,” said Kompany (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “We can’t change the past. It’s about what we bring tomorrow. That’s our whole focus. I have incredible confidence in the team.
Another thing that Kompany cannot change is the pitch, which Borussia Mönchengladbach had many complaints about over the weekend.
“Sometimes the pitch affects the course of the game. But we’re not thinking about that. We could play on the top of the Himalayas. The most important thing is that we are the better team tomorrow and that we win,” said Kompany.
