Harry Kane is on a blistering run of form for Bayern Munich.
The Englishman has been the source of nightmares for defences, racking up seven goals and two assists for the Bavarian giants in his last five games across the Bundesliga, DFB Pokal and Champions League. For some context, that means Kane is averaging just shy of two goal contributions in his last five games for Bayern. Truly frightening numbers.
When asked about his red hot form after netting a brace against FC Union Berlin, Kane was quick to show humility, showering his teammates and Bayern’s style of play with praise (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
“Physically, mentally – playing in this type of team, I feel like at a really high level at the moment but of course without the players around me creating the chances it wouldn’t be possible. The team is doing great, we’re playing a really great style of football. With the ball, without the ball, we’re making it difficult for teams, and when you’re dominating a game like we did today, you’re going to get chances and I always back myself to put some away,” said Kane.
Rewind to early October following Bayern’s 3-3 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt, Kane was the victim of growing criticism having gone without a goal or assist for three straight games.
Fast forward to the present day and the worries over the Three Lions captain are laughable.
It’s only natural that a player of Kane’s calibre receives such heavy criticism after a few middling games. However, the 31-year-old responded how any world class player would: showcasing his class, and as a cherry on top, crediting his teammates.
A class response from a class player.
