Due to injuries, poor form, and routine rotation, Bayern Munich players have struggled to earn national team call-ups this year. Manuel Neuer and Thomas Müller both retired from international competition while Leon Goretzka didn’t make the EURO 2024 squad.
Even this month, Julian Nagelsmann originally elected to allow Leroy Sané to stay in Munich to improve his conditioning but an injury to Deniz Undav reversed that decision. Now another Bayern winger will be a late addition to his country’s squad.
On Monday, French reporter Fabrice Hawkins broke the news (via @iMiaSanMia):
Kingsley Coman has been called up to the France squad as a replacement for the injured Ousmane Dembélé.
In 57 appearances for France, Coman has scored eight goals and five assists. He missed the 2018 World Cup victory with an injury but served as a rotational player in the 2022 World Cup that ended in a penalty kick shootout loss to Argentina.
