While Germany earned a 1-1 draw with Hungary on Tuesday in the UEFA Nations League, former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann might have walked off the pitch feeling like a loser.
Nagelsmann took a gamble and subbed on Florian Wirtz in the second half of a game where it might not have been necessary. Luck being what it is, Wirtz picked up a yellow card, which will see him suspended for the first leg of the quarterfinals.
“I’m a bit annoyed about the yellow card for Flo. But it is what it is. We will put another good player on the pitch,” Nagelsmann said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
To replace Wirtz iws easier said than done, of course, but Germany is rolling under Nagelsmann and appears well-equipped to handle his absence.
