Several European clubs are showing interest in Sporting Lisbon’s standout Viktor Gyökeres as 2025 approaches. However, despite the growing buzz around the Swedish forward, one French football pundit remains skeptical.
Loïc Tanzi of L’Équipe recently reported that Paris Saint-Germain are keeping a close eye on Gyökeres and are planning to make a move for him in the summer of 2025. PSG’s sporting advisor, Luís Campos, has already contacted the striker’s representatives.
In the meantime, The Daily Briefing has highlighted that Manchester United are also preparing to target Gyökeres, with coach Rúben Amorim, who worked with the striker in Lisbon, leading the pursuit.
Furthermore, Diario AS has revealed that Manchester United are willing to trigger Gyökeres’ €100 million release clause to secure his signing.
Jérôme Rothen questions whether PSG should push for Viktor Gyökeres
RMC Sport pundit Jérôme Rothen wants to emphasize the potential and importance of Gonçalo Ramos for PSG, especially as he returns from injury or a spell on the sidelines.
When discussing Gyökeres of Sporting Lisbon, Rothen downplays that the 26-year-old could be a better or more effective option than Ramos.
“Please tell me you’re not going to say Gyökeres is the best player in the world. Gonçalo Ramos is coming back, and maybe he’s the solution,” Rothen said on RMC Sport (h/t Sport.fr). Gyökeres has been in sensational form this season, scoring 32 goals in all competitions for both Sporting Lisbon and Sweden. He even netted a hat-trick on Wednesday in the Nations League against Azerbaijan.”
