Tottenham are among the admirers of Borussia Dortmund talent Jamie Gittens
Tottenham Hotspur have shown keen interest in acquiring a talented young winger in the past couple of transfer windows as they look to build a solid yet unpredictable wide unit at White Hart Lane.
The Lilywhites did sign Wilson Odobert from Championship side Burnley in the summer and agreed a deal with Gangwon FC for Yang Min-hyeok, who is poised to arrive in North London in January. However, Odobert has barely featured for Spurs due to injury problems. He is expected to remain sidelined for months with a hamstring problem.
As a result, Tottenham are now looking at another highly-rated winger who has been putting in some exemplary performances in the Bundesliga. According to reliable Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, Spurs are closely monitoring the situation of Borussia Dortmund talent Jamie Gittens but will face competition from Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal.
Jamie Gittens has been enjoying a stellar season with Borussia Dortmund. The Reading-born talent scored his eighth goal of the season during a 1-1 draw against bitter rivals Bayern Munich on Saturday and rumours of a transfer in 2025 have intensified in recent weeks.
With a host of clubs battling for his signature, the England youth international is expected to become the latest Dortmund star to leave the club for a huge transfer fee.
Florian Plettenberg adds Dortmund have no intention of selling Gittens and slapped an eye-watering €100 million valuation to ward off Premier League interest. He signed a contract extension at the Signal Iduna Park back in October 2023 (Transfermarkt), meaning his current deal with the German side now runs until 2028.
This puts Dortmund in a great position when it comes to negotiating with an interested party. Moreover, Gittens is not currently planning a transfer back to England, though he does see himself playing in the Premier League one day.

Spurs have taken an interest in the 20-year-old and there are chances of the club positioning themselves for a future transfer. However, the hefty €100 million valuation could become a big obstacle in pursuing Gittens, who was a part of the Manchester City youth system.
Tottenham needs a right-winger to cover and compete with Brennan Johnson, and with Gittens able to play on both wings, it would hamper the development of top academy talent Mikey Moore at the Hotspur Way if he signs—though Ange Postecoglou will simply be looking to bolster his squad next month to help the Lilywhites win silverware.
