West Ham United take on Leicester City on Tuesday night, and Julen Lopetegui is in desperate need of a victory.
It has been claimed that the West Ham boss has only six games left to save his job.
However, I would argue that poor results against Leicester and Wolves will see the end of Julen Lopetegui at the London Stadium.
The 58-year-old has performed terribly in his role as Hammers head coach.
It is hugely frustrating that last week’s win over Newcastle now looks like nothin more than a false dawn.
It’s Leicester City away up next, and a defeat to them would be an absolute disaster right now.
Julen Lopetegui drops bombshell ahead of Leicester vs West Ham
The match at the King Power Stadium has become a must-win, after the embarrassing 5-2 home defeat to Arsenal.
This team is far too good to be languishing down near the bottom three.
However, it seems like we’ve been dealt some bad news ahead of the match.
Lopetegui gave an injury update to reporters this morning ahead of the Foxes clash, as quoted by WHUFC.com
“We had a little problem with [Jean-Clair] Todibo in the last match,” Lopetegui said in Monday’s pre-match press conference.“
“He started having the problem in Newcastle. And he has that same problem. I think it’s not very [severe], but let’s see. We don’t know exactly if he’s going to be available or not.“
Todibo missing out against Leicester could be disastrous for the Hammers.
Remember, Konstantinos Mavropanos missed our clash with Arsenal through injury, so he may not be ready to come back in and deputise for Todibo.
If that ends up being the case, Lopetegui will have one of two options.
He can either start a youth team player like Kaelan Casey, or drop Edson Alvarez back into a centre-back position.
It is a headache that he really doesn’t need right now.
Julen Lopetegui will be praying that Jean-Clair Todibo is declared fit for West Ham’s clash with Leicester on Tuesday night.
The last thing the Spaniard needs is another injury problem to a key player.
