Once upon a time, the third-round draw of the FA Cup was something to get excited about for AFC Bournemouth supporters. It was a round of the cup that we rarely reached and brought the excitement of a potential draw against one of the clubs from the top two divisions in English Football. The romance of the FA Cup was most certainly still alive on the south coast.
Between the turn of the century and 2013, the Cherries enjoyed just three FA Cup third-round weekends, but have now been ever-present in the last 13 draws and have actually enjoyed some success in that time reaching the fourth round four times, the fifth round twice and the Quarter-Finals once.
Last season was AFC Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola’s first taste of the oldest club competition in the world and the Cherries reached the fifth round, only to be knocked out by Leicester City after extra-time. Can AFC Bournemouth enjoy a cup run this season? Could they even reach a Wembley Semi-Final for the first time in the clubs history?
Well, the round to Wembley starts at home with Championship side West Bromwich Albion making the trip down to Dean Court during the weekend of the 11th/12th January 2025. The game is most likely to be played on the 11th as there are some intriguing other ties in the draw so television coverage seems unlikely.
This will be the 24th meeting between the two sides and the first in the FA Cup since 1999.

Seem to remember the last time we played West Brom in the cup ( league cup ?), their allocation was behind the south end goal…. I suppose it will be the same.
