West Ham United have numerous players who we could do with moving on in the January transfer window.
Whether or not Julen Lopetegui is still in charge of West Ham by the time the January transfer window rolls around is immaterial really.
Lopetegui is said to be under real pressure, with the likes of Graham Potter allegedly being lined up to replace him.
There is plenty of doom and gloom around the London Stadium right now.
However, that could all change quickly either with a run of good results, or a new manager coming in to replace Lopetegui.
A few exciting signings would certainly help as well, but the Hammers may well try to move on some of the deadwood first.
West Ham man wants out in the January window
The Hammers are expected to be busy in the January transfer window.
As much as we need a couple of top quality signings, it could be argued that it will be equally as important to get rid of some of the deadwood as well.
And it seems like West Ham might just have a good chance to do just that.
According to a report from 225 Foot, Blackburn and Watford are both keen to sign Maxwel Cornet in January.
And the former Burnley man is said to be desperate to leave the London Stadium in order to link up with either of those two Championship clubs.
Hopefully the Hammers manage to cut ties with the winger as soon as possible.
West Ham tried desperately hard to sell Cornet in the January transfer window earlier this year for just £6 million.
However, there were no takers, and he remained at the club for another six months before leaving to join Southampton on loan in the summer.
The 27-year-old has experienced a nightmare spell at St Mary’s though, and the Saints are allegedly trying to send him back to the Hammers.
West Ham would be lucky to get anywhere near £6 million for him now.
In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Hammers tried to mutually terminate the Ivorian’s deal, just like we did with Jack Wilshere a few years ago.
Maxwel Cornet has proven to be a terrible signing for West Ham.
Sure, injuries didn’t help him during the 2022/23 season, but he has clearly regressed as a player over the past two years or so as well.
It’s time for him to move on.
