Ian Wright was heavily critical of one Chelsea star for their performance in the defeat against Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday.
The Blues fell to a 1-0 defeat to their London rivals, with Mikel Merino heading home the only goal of the game in the first half.
It was another disappointing performance from Chelsea who offered next to nothing going forward, and fans were left feeling very frustrated once again.
Wright slams Sanchez for latest Chelsea performance
With the current injury situation the team pretty much picks itself, but fans weren’t confident about Robert Sanchez being in goal.
Enzo Maresca confirmed before the game Sanchez was back as number one and praised his performance against the Gunners.
The Spaniard was dropped after a costly error against Manchester City, with Filip Jorgensen replacing him, but the young Dane only lasted a handful of games before losing his place.
Sanchez isn’t a popular figure amongst the fan base, and no goalkeeper has made more errors leading to goals this season.
Against Arsenal he gave the ball away in dangerous areas on several occasions, and although he made one good save in the second half it wasn’t a great performance.
William Galls has slammed Sanchez this season and Wright tore into the Spain international for his role in the only goal of the game.
“He shouldn’t be there, he needs to be back on his line,” he told Premier League Productions.
“It was strange. He’s got space where he is but he’s got involved with an Arsenal player.
“He probably would have caught it if he was in the right position. It’s such poor goalkeeping at this level, it’s not good enough.”
Chelsea fans will echo what Wright is saying and they will just be hoping Sanchez doesn’t make any costly errors in the final nine games, as there’s no room for error in the race for Champions League football.
