Tottenham are approaching the summer transfer window with the Europa League as their only shot at silverware. With performances falling well below expectations, it seems only a matter of time before Spurs exit the competition. To make matters worse, journalist Graeme Bailey has revealed that chairman Daniel Levy’s efforts to bring back former managing director of football Fabio Paratici have suffered a setback.
The Italian executive is ready to re-enter football after an 18-month suspension for financial discrepancies at Juventus, although it was highly unlikely that he will resume his role at Spurs, there was still Levy asking him to join again .
Paratici, who resigned from his position in North London in April 2023, has accepted an offer to become AC Milan’s new sporting director – Levy’s efforts to successfully re-service him back to Tottenham have fell flat. This is a major frustration for Levy, given that since then the struggling club has not secured the return of a man who worked at Spurs for two years.
Levy is going through a bad run of days
Tottenham have struggled in the Premier League this season and are on track for their worst finish since the 2003/04 campaign when they placed 14th.
According to Bailey, Paratici has turned down a potential return to Spurs, opting instead to continue his career in Italy, where he spent his entire playing and executive career before joining Tottenham in 2021.
Levy had reportedly pushed to bring the 52-year-old back as a sporting director with responsibilities similar to Luis Campos at Paris Saint-Germain. The Tottenham chairman holds ‘huge respect’ for Paratici and values his contributions during his two-year tenure in North London. Praised as ‘outstanding,’ the Italian played a key role in signing Cristian Romero, Pedro Porro, Destiny Udogie, and Dejan Kulusevski, among others.
Paratici now appears set to continue his career in Italy, with Milan nearing the finalisation of his move to the San Siro as they aim to reclaim their status among Europe’s elite clubs. The Italian giants also considered Andrea Berta for the role, but he has instead agreed to take charge at Arsenal.

Paratici remained a popular figure in North London, largely due to the key players he brought to the club during his tenure. Beyond his time at Tottenham, he built a strong reputation for his work at Juventus, where he played a crucial role in assembling a squad that dominated Serie A and won multiple league titles.
