Bryan Gil is facing a pivotal summer with his Tottenham Hotspur future in the balance
This season has been nothing short of catastrophic for Tottenham, who find themselves in 14th place and out of all the major competitions. The only hope of some sort of silverware comes in the Europa League. Any hope of a top-five finish next season will require a major clear-out in the transfer market this summer. In other news, it is reported that Bryan Gil, who has been out on loan at Girona since last summer, is on his way back to London at the end of the season and is not certain where his future lies after this season.
Delfí Geli, the Girona president, recently spoke about Bryan Gil’s future with the club in an interview with Esports COPE. The Tottenham winger is having a productive season with four goals and three assists recorded in 32 games played for the La Liga side. Earlier reports from Spain indicated that although the Catalan club isn’t planning to activate the €15m purchase option, they resisted interest in retaining the player beyond this campaign.
Bryan Gil has been on loan at different clubs in Spain for most of the last two seasons since joining Tottenham in 2021. Although he has only played 43 times for the Lilywhites, the Spanish winger looks like a player who will be valuable to Spurs.
Last week, Gil injured himself in training and will be out for the remainder of the season. He recently had surgery, and he is expected to be out for four to five months. On Thursday, journalist Nil Sola reported the successful surgery was performed by one of the top surgeons, Dr. Manuel Leyes.
Sola also said that Gil’s future remains unknown. Girona president Delfí Geli did not rule out keeping the 24-year-old for another season, especially based on what he has done for the club; however, the decision regarding the future of the Spain International will be made at the end of the season.

Girona president Delfí Geli has accepted Gil’s contributions, saying he had the manager’s trust and performed well during his loan. But he highlighted Girona’s immediate focus is on finishing the season well before determining the Spaniard’s future. With Gil contracted to Tottenham until 2026, both Gil and the club will hope to gain further clarity over his next steps in the summer transfer window.
