Tottenham have been linked with a move for Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman
Tottenham Hotspur are expected to fortify their forward unit in the summer as Timo Werner’s loan spell comes to an end, while there is speculation surrounding the future of Richarlison.
Son Heung-min, despite being an icon and captain of Spurs, could be offloaded as part of the squad rebuild this summer after a disastrous campaign. With the South Korean showing signs of ageing and his form tumbling, the Hotspur Way chiefs have placed him on the chopping block.
Losing three experienced campaigners in one window would be a risky business, but Daniel Levy and Johan Lange have to make tough decisions with an eye for long-term gains in the future. There is a dire need to add some flair and dynamism in the front line at Hotspur Way given how the North Londoners have found it difficult to find solutions in tight games, and they have been linked with a move for Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman.
Tottenham are reportedly set to be given the opportunity to sign Kingsley Coman when they enter potential transfer discussions with Bayern to sign Mathys Tel permanently. Among the most decorated players in Europe right now, the Frenchman has won a total of 29 trophies in his illustrious playing career thus far. After spells with Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus, the winger has made a name for himself at Bayern Munich.
After almost a decade-long stay at the Allianz Arena, the Bavarians are prepared to sell Coman at the end of the campaign. However, Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham feels the wages involved in a potential deal will act as a stumbling block for Tottenham.
“Coman is a good player who is hugely experienced,” John Wenham exclusively told Tottenham News.
“However, do I see him coming to Tottenham? To be perfectly honest, no. This is a player who would be on big money, probably about £250,000-a-week.
“We just never seem to be in the market for players on that type of money with Coman’s level of experience. Therefore, I imagine he will end up at another top-six club, rather than Tottenham.”

Money has barely been the problem at Spurs. Levy’s rigid transfer policy and reluctance to buy high-profile players who earn substantial wages has never let the Lilywhites become a supreme force in the Premier League that can rub shoulders with the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal.

Investing in youth and helping them realise their potential appears to be the way forward. Set to turn 29 in June, injury-prone (currently out with a knock), on high wages and with no resale value, Coman doesn’t fit the bill at Tottenham. Moreover, he prefers a switch to the cash-rich Saudi Pro League over staying in Europe, and after winning everything with Bayern why won’t he?
So, Spurs bosses should not lose sleep if they miss out on Coman’s signature.
