Ticket details
Born on Merseyside, Jones is a relatively new addition to the top flight refereeing roster, having only become an EFL official at the start of the 2016/17 campaign.
The majority of his appointments so far this term have come in the Premier League, with a handful of Championship, Carabao Cup and FA Cup fixtures thrown in too.
Thursday’s game between the Magpies and Roberto De Zerbi’s Europe-chasing Seagulls will be Jones’ third visit to Tyneside this season. His first was for United’s 1-0 win over Chelsea just prior to the World Cup break in November, in which he dished out seven yellow cards – including four for Nick Pope, Kieran Trippier, Dan Burn and Sean Longstaff.
He then returned to St. James’ to oversee another 1-0 victory for the Magpies against Fulham in January, where he issued another four yellow cards, with goalkeeper Pope the only recipient in black and white on that occasion.
Jones is yet to produce a red card in 2022/23, but has only kept his cards pocketed once this season, in Manchester City’s 1-0 win at Leicester City in October.
